Abstract
How can space be conceived, organized andcontrolled on the basis of religion? In recentyears, studies into the “geography of religions”have provided tools for analyzing the spatialdimension of religion. On the basis of this pro-posal, this article explores the religious prac-tices of the inhabitants of Santa María, a colonyfounded by Germans from Rusia in the Pamparegion. More specifically, it studies the appro-priation and redefinition of the rural space froma religious perspective, and the construction ofa sacred circuit based on the sacralization prac-tices of the settlers, from their arrival in theregion until 1939, during which time thecolony operated as an “ethnic-religious village”,with leaders and institutions. Through a his-torical-cultural approach and the analysis ofvarious sources (written, oral and material), thearticle explores the links between space, reli-gion and ethnicity and their importance in thepreservation of community identity.Aquellos autores/as que tengan publicaciones con esta revista, aceptan los términos siguientes:
