Abstract
Based on discourse and quantitative analysis, this paper examines the voluntary contributions to defray the expenses of the military campaign in Texas and the speeches in favor of the conflict. It also explores the impact of the capture of the Álamo on Mexican society and the donations offered after the defeat at San Jacinto. Lastly, it studies the expressions of animosity towards Americans and other foreigners following the imprisonment of General Antonio López de Santa Anna.
